Dear Members,
For the next event in our very busy schedule, we are proud to host Mr Jean-Philippe Guillot, Asia Regional Manager for Bernard Magrez wines to present the best of the portfolio of Bernard Magrez wines.
Bernard Magrez is a French wine magnate who has acquired more than 35 vineyards around the world. Owning wine estates in a far flung empire stretching as far as Chile, Spain and California , he is best known for his Bordeaux estates, in particular his flagship Chateau Pape Clement and Chateau Frombauge, the largest wine estate in St Emilion. Describing himself as a composer of rare wines, he features his photograph and signature on the back label of each of his wines, symbolising his commitment to quality. In 2009, the tasting committee of the International Wine and Spirit Competition awarded Bernard Magrez the prestigious title of 'French wine producer of the year'.
Working closely with famous wine consultant Michel Rolland, Magrez wines aim to be among the top five for its region, as adjudged by international wine tasters. We are fortunate to feature some of the best wines in his far flung empire. Starting from the Aruga blanc from Katsunuma , Japan made from the koshu grape, we continue with his 100% merlot Bordeaux Cuvee d'Exception L' Egregore and wine from his Spanish property in Toro, Paciencia. This is rounded up fittingly by his two 'Grand Crus', Chateau Pape Clement and Chateau Fombrauge. Interestingly, Robert Parker describes the 98- pointer 2005 Pape Clement as probably the finest Pape Clement ever made.
We have paired the wines with the superb premium steaks of Wooloomooloo Steakhouse. An established member of Hong Kong's grill house circle since 2004, this is the first international Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, conveniently located within the Swisshotel the Stamford, Raffles City complex. Patrons who have visited the restaurant can testify to the quality of their steaks and this new restaurant is poised to give stalwart Morton's a run for its money.
We are grateful to Top Wines and Jean- Philippe for making this event possible. Members will have priority over guests during the first 48 hours after the sending out of this bulletin. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
