Dear Members,
We are pleased to invite you to our Burgundy explorer’s night
with whites from Puligny Montrachet and reds from the commune of Gevrey Chambertin. We’ll be dining at Izy Fook,
a new concept between
Izy
Dining and Bar and Roast Paradise – a fusion of Japanese
Izakaya dining with local roast meat favorites. This will pair well with the fabulous Burgundies on offer from the IWFSS cellar.
We shall start the evening with the
Bourgogne "Clos du Murger" Blanc 2013 from Albert Grivault,
a well-balanced wine with a few years of ageing, which provides for a refreshing start.
The first starter, the
Salmon Kueh Pie Tee,
is a unique take on the traditional dish; and is following by the Burnt
Squid. These are matched with a pair of 2006 Puligny Montrachet
1er Cru Les Referts, one from Etienne Sauzet and the other from J.M. Boillot. From two excellent winemakers, this will be a unique opportunity to taste two wines from the same plot and vintage, differentiated only by the maker’s style.
The next course will be traditional local favorites Char Siu and
Roasted Duck, well-matched pairings with red Burgundy. For the wine pairing we have a village wine, Geantet Pansiot’s Gevrey Chambertin Vielles Vignes from the great vintage of 2002, together with a 1er cru, Taupenot Merme’s Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Belair
from a cooler vintage of 2006.
The last main course will be the Wagyu Truffle Don paired with
two 2002 grand crus! A Chapelle Chambertin from Nicolas
Potel, and a Chambertin from
Rossignol Trapet. The pairing speaks for itself, with the
beef and truffle complementing the best the Gevrey Chambertin terrior has to offer!
We shall end the journey with the Aiyu Jelly dessert, a twist
on local and Japanese delicacies.
We have 30 seats for this event and members will have the usual
priority in first 48 hours. Member seats are priced at $240 and guests at $280. Please note that no cancellations will be possible, due to the small size of the venue.
