Dear Members,
Happy New Year! For our first event of 2011, we are pleased to present the Antinori dinner, featuring wines specially flown in from Italy for this event and featuring Jacopo Pandolfini – Export Manager for Antinori in Asia.
The noble Antinori family has been making wine for over six hundred years, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has personally managed the business making innovative, sometimes courageous choices, always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. These qualities of tradition, passion and instinct have made Antinori one of the leading Italian producers of fine quality wines.
Today Marchese Piero Antinori is director of the company, ably assisted by his three daughters. Piero Antinori says: "We have shown over the years that it is possible to produce internationally-acclaimed fine stylish, elegant wines in Tuscany and Umbria while maintaining their original character".
For the dinner, we will be featuring 4 vintages of the chianti classico riserva that bear the family name of Marchese Antinori in magnum format, followed by the internationally renowned jewels of the Antinori empire, the 1997 Tignanello, Guado al Tasso and 1998 Solaia. These wines have been thoughtfully paired with the Italian cuisine of Ochre at Orchard Central as we pay them a repeat visit.
The Society thus proudly presents …
