Dear Members,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us in a gastronomic journey through Italy showcasing wines from Piedmonte and Tuscany. The evening promises you a unique opportunity to experience the wines up close and personal with each of the family members, all 2nd generation family members who are actively involved with the winemaking and the vineyard operations. They will be present to share their personal stories and discuss the wines. We are truly honored to have the company of:
Ms Silvia Altare, from Elio Altare
Ms Luisa Rocca, from Bruno Rocca
Mr Giovanni Correggia, from Matteo Correggia
Mr Emanuele Pellegrini, from Fattoria di Petrognano
Elio Altare is one of the pioneers of the modern Barolo, dedicated to producing elegant, refined and balanced wines, with a strong focus on terroir. The family was originally from a small town of Dogliani who went on to buy a farm in La Morra. Silvia joined her father in 2003 and quickly became an integral part of their small family-run winery encompassing 10-Ha of land.
Bruno Rocca is based in Barbaresco, where their cellar is set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Italy. Owning one of the choicest parcel within Rabajà, one of Italy's great vineyards, Rocca’s two children are passionate, hard-working and deeply invested in the family business. Their wines are reputed to strike a balance between modernity, exuberance and impeccable structure, seductive in youth and proven ageing potential with stunning maturity. All their grapes come from the vineyards that they carefully nurture throughout the year, protected as a faithful ally. The wine is an expression of their land, passion, love and respect for the terroir using natural techniques.
The estate of Matteo Correggia is located between Canale and Santo Stefano Roero, and brings us an interesting showcase of the other indigenous grapes in the Piedmonte region such as the aromatic Roero Arneis with its freshness, and other famous grapes including Barbera, and international varieties of Cabernet, Merlot, etc. Currently helmed by both father and son, it is another lovely expression of a family-run winery from Piedemonte.
he is experimenting on grapes micro-vinification of 4 different combination of rootstocks and nebbiolo clone with the aim to find out what will be the best suited for the Roero area.
Fattoria di Petrgnano is based in middle of the Tuscan hills of Montelupo Fiorentino, a famous town in the Chianti district. The rich soil and excellent micro-climate here make it perfect winegrowing country. The Pellegrini family has owned the winery since 1963 where the estate covers 87ha, of which there are 15,5 ha of Sangiovese, 1ha of Trebbiano Toscano, 3ha of Chardonnay, 4ha of Canaiolo, 4,5ha of Cabernet Sauvignon, 1ha of Syrah and 1ha of Merlot. The Fattoria di Petrognano has a unique approach to winemaking, combining the best of traditions, modern techniques and selective use of French oak barriques
