A relaxed tour of the Constantia Winelands
and
Morning tour of Constantia Winelands,
visiting Steenberg,
Klein Constantia and Buitenverwagting.

these wineries are usually closed on a

might be able to arrange a visit if we
get a good response
for the tour).

Monday 26 January
Drive via the N1 through the Klein Drakenstein
Mountains and
Worcester and along the R60 to Swellendam.
Visit a top estate in the Robertson area
for an estate tour, cellar
tour and lunch with a winemaker and/or
owner en route.
Check in to your guesthouse. This property
has its own nut orchards,
Cheese, fresh produce and preserves.
A 4 course wine and food pairing dinner
with Judy and Brin
Rebstein and overnight at Jan Harmsgat

Tuesday 27 January
After breakfast, drive to the Hemel en
Aarde (Heaven and Earth) Valley
to taste some of South Africa’s
best chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Bouchard Findlayson and Hamilton Russell
would be two estates that
I particularly recommend in this area.
Lunch at La Vierge or Heaven Restaurant
in the valley
Check in to your Guest House situated
on Grotto beach in Hermanus,
or the Marine Hotel (situated on the cliffs
in the town, overlooking
walker Bay).
Dinner at Seafood at the Marine.

Wednesday 28 January
Drive through the apple growing area of
Elgin and Grabouw and over
the Franschhoek Pass to Franschhoek Village
Visit Boekenhoutskloof Estate for a wine
tasting before a light lunch
at Fairview Wine Estate in Paarl, which
also has a wide range of local cheeses
as well
as award winning wines. (We will be able
to taste all the Spice Route wines
at Fairview). We could also visit Warwick
wine estate in the afternoon (time
permitting). This might be the occasion
to visit Kanonkop or Delheim instead.
Dinner at Reubens Restaurant (walking
distance from the hotel) or Bosman’s
Restaurant at the Grande Roche Hotel in
Paarl.

Thursday 29 January
Visit the Helderberg wine area, beginning
with a visit to a coffee roastery
situated on a wine farm in Somerset West.
Or, we could visit Meerlust Estate
prior to continuing on to Somerset West.

selection of olives and olive pastes as

by their two very good
Bordeaux blends.
A wine tasting and lunch at Vergelegen
Wine Estate, a leader in the Biodiversity

dates back to 1700 but also boasts a state

walk through Stellenbosch, the second
oldest
Town in South Africa, centre of the wine
industry and a large university town.

Friday 30 January
A day concentrating on the Stellenbosch
wine area.
Start with a wine tasting at Neil Ellisa,
Rustenberg or Morgenhof, before continuing
On to a chocolate and wine tasting at
Waterford and a visit to their cathedral
cellar.
Continue on to estates such as Ernie Els
(an impressively modern cellar situated
on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain).
Uva Mira (a very interesting much smaller
estate, with a very successful young
wine maker) and historic Webersberg or
Rust en Vrede both also situated in this
golden
triangle of red wine producers.
Lunch at Terroir or Guardian Peak
A visit to Thelema or Tokara on the way
back to Franschhoek (time permitting)
Evening at leisure

Saturday 31 January
A leisure day to spend enjoying the main
street of Franschhoek with it’s
interesting
shops and galleries.
Lunch at La Petite Ferme (if the flight
time permits).
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your
flight home.
